Week one of half marathon training and so far, so good! We did a 5k treadmill run on Tuesday, and a lovely three miler on Wednesday. Thursday didn’t happen because we were out for the evening, but tomorrow’s run will make it three-in-a-week for the first time in forever!
I’ve also just joined a local plank challenge – eek! I know loads of these are started and abandoned every month, and it’s hard to stay accountable. Well, knowing that lots of ladies (and guys) are accountable together will, I hope, keep me committed.
Day one, two and three are done, and as ever it’s tough when you haven’t done it in a while 😉
And it’s almost time for 5×50: this is a great time of year for feels good and working hard!
Those planks will really help you complete your marathon. Good luck.
Thank you- I hope so! 🙂
Wishing you lots of motivation on the challenge–I stink at following through with them.
Thanks- I’m the same, I think this is the longest I’ve lasted!
Good luck, but I know you will rock this. I tried the 30 day plank challenge, but failed miserably keeping on the schedule, but I have set up one of my own that increases gradually so I’m better able to stay on point. I know you will do great!!!
Thanks- this is the longest I have managed! Keep us posted on how you’re getting on!
Good luck with your half marathon training and the challenge but I wouldn’t worry too much if you don’t complete the challenge as the plank is a pretty pointless exercise, in my opinion. I don’t mean to be negative here but there are loads of exercises that will strengthen your core, improve your posture and help your half marathon training more effectively than the plank. Try bending down to touch your toes then reach up overhead and extend back the way and see which muscles you feel working 🙂
Thanks, Steve. I suspected that, and I know working muscles in isolation like this is pretty pointless. It’s more about the discipline of sticking to it! That takes any pressure off 🙂
