Sometimes, the best laid plans slip. That just about sums up my year to date: here I am, looking at the end of January, and instead of being firmly on track by now as I usually would be, I’m still feeling the hangover from the festive period. I’ve had lots on, and I’ve been busy every weekend which has been wonderful, but the downside is that my routine has suffered.

I did start off – yet again – with good intentions last week: on Monday I had Glo, which was ace! It was just what I needed to blow off some cobwebs and I worked hard, buring almost 600 cals. On Tuesday, I went to Trigger Point Pilates which was just what I felt I needed, and I think that I’m really benefitting from these classes overall.  I also ate well at the start of the week. My work trip to Islay on Thursday meant that I didn’t manage back in time for PiYo, which didn’t really help at all as I find that Thursday nights really keep me focussed and on track heading into the weekend, not to mention that I love the class!

I then had a wonderful weekend away in Edinburgh to see Miss Saigon, and while I walked a lot and reached my step target each day, I did have yet another foodie blow-out. Oh dear. And so here I am, yet again, starting afresh today. My kit is packed and ready for Glo, and I’ve eaten well today so I’m starting this week as I mean to go on. I know that it will be another challenging end to this week with another trip away, and I won’t manage to PiYo or VeraFlow yet again, but I’m determined to do better than I did last week.

So for anyone else feeling the same way, I hope this helps:

Hello, all. After a week of poor weather and not quite getting back on track I’m determined to make this week the one that counts for me. I did start off with good intentions last Monday, but various things threw me off track as the week went on.

The good news is I’ve started right today, even managing to burn over 550 calories at Glo tonight. I worked hard!

So, here’s to a new week, and a new focus: 🙂

Welcome to another wintry blue Monday, when people feel low, let their resolutions slide and generally feel meh. But not me! I had a good week last week, with lots of steps and a welcome return to PiYo and Veraflow too. Ok, so my eating has not been great- I’m still enjoying some leftover treats- and I stepped on the scales to see that I’d gained a couple of pounds over the festive period, but all in all it’s not too bad.

This week I’m off to a strong start: I’ve met my veggie quota for today and we were back at Glo Fit tonight, which was a good fat burner. Yay!

So if your motivation is struggling here’s something to help:

Have a wonderful week!

Welcome to 2018, and a belated Happy New Year to you all. How has the first week of this fresh new year been for you?

I’m still eating my way through a ton of seasonal treats, but I can see the end…. my running for this year is already under way and classes start again tomorrow so I’ll be firmly back on the bandwagon.

For the first time in about 10 years I’m starting the new year with no races planned and no specific fitness goals in mind. I have a few ideas of what I’d like to achieve, and I’ve documented these in my new Bullet Journal (New Year goal right there!) but I’m not too sure which ones I want to prioritise yet. I’ll keep you posted, of course, when I firm these up.

At the moment I’m focusing on getting back to a routine, and not putting pressure in myself to achieve too much.

Here’s something to get you started if you’re facing this new year or your new challenges with trepidation:

Have a great week!
