Monday Motivation

Monday Motivation

Yesterday was an important day for me: it was the launch of this year’s spring 5×50 Challenge!

This will be my sixth year taking part and I know that it always helps me to stay motivated and committed to my health and fitness goals.

For those who don’t know what it is, it’s a challenge to run 5k or do 30 minutes of exercise a day for 50 days. There are lots of variants including team challenges and challenges that start smaller and build up to 30 minutes by the end of the 50 days so it is inclusive and can suit all fitness levels.

I’ve signed up to do 30 minutes per day- some days will be more, some days will be a run or even a walk, but I am committed to doing some activity every day.

I started this year’s challenge with a 5k run around the harbour in glorious sunshine which was good. My pace was a little better than I had expected and I managed it in 33.13. I have a long way to go to get back under 30 mins but I need to start somewhere, right?

Last week I was a bit up-and-down. I started off strong with Glo on Monday and then with Sculpt and Trigger Point Pilates on Tuesday but I missed JogScotland on Wednesday and I wasn’t back in time for PiYo on Thursday. Being committed to the 5×50 should mean that even if I do miss a class I will make up for it with a run or another form of activity. I’ll keep you posted with my progress!

There is still time to join me, you can sign up or find out more at 5×50.org

Good luck!
