Monday Motivation

Sorry for not posting for a week- I’ve been busy, busy with visitors, a short break away and more visitors! I’m back to my routine- such that it is…. Saturday saw me do a 5 mile walk/run/shuffle and boy did I have DOMS on Sunday- my obliques were aching. Tonight, I was back at PiYo and it was tough. Tough after a week of eating whatever I wanted, little exercise and having a few beers and some champagne after yesterday’s Wimbledon final and Euro Championship Final.

Back on track now, though 😉

Are you on holiday? Have you chucked the routine and eating well? This has helped me to focus today:

It’s a new week for us all!

I haven’t run this week. I’m not apologising for it, I’m not going to say something glib like ‘life got in the way’, I just didn’t run, and I’m ok with that.

I’ve been nursing scrapes and bruises since my fall the previous week, and I’ve worked hard at my fitness classes so I haven’t been sitting idle all week either 😉

I do have races to prepare for though, so I’ll get back out there. As you might know, since I reframed my running a year ago I’ve been really enjoying it more: no pressure on myself, no aiming for times or PBs, just ‘running my run’ as Kyla would say, and enjoying every second of each race. Same goes for training. Yes, there are tough times and easier times, but it’s all about balance. And I’m getting better at that!

Have a great week!

Well, I don’t know about you, but today’s full moon on this longest day has wreaked mayhem for me! I was very grateful for PiYo tonight, where I stretched and sweated my troubles away;)

How was your weekend? Mine was amazing. We had visitors: my BFF Pauline, her hubby Gavin, my goddaughter Olivia and the suddenly-very-tall Christopher. We had a great day out to Gigha where we walked and chatted and relaxed, and in the evening, Pauline and I sat in the hot tub for aaaaages! We then rounded off their trip with a delicious lunch at The George in Inveraray. Yum.

If you need a motivational push to get you off the couch or away from the desk, I hope this helps:

Hello, there! Have you been swept up in football fever? Nah, me neither. I do have some teams in the family sweepstake I’m keeping my eye on, but that’s about it for me!

This weekend, I got in a great run, and I began looking ahead to my upcoming runs. I had thought I didn’t have many to look forward to but it turns out that have six- yes, six- races coming up! Eek! All should be great fun though.

I also really enjoyed PiYo tonight: we started a new Flow section and I feel great after it, very relaxed.

All in all, I’m feeling good at the moment!

Hello! Anyone else wilting in this unseasonable weather? I’m not complaining- definitely not- we’ve had a great long, warm spell recently. This weekend I did more gardening, went for a run, a hot tub and chilled out. It was amazing, and just what I needed after a tough week.

Today’s started off the same way last week finished, and so my eye is firmly on enjoying this weather while it lasts and keeping my training on track this week. And here’s what I’m using as my focus….

 Exactly! 🙂

Good evening to you, on this fine holiday weekend. It isn’t a holiday for me- I’ve been working today- but I’ve enjoyed the weather from the office window;)

This weekend, I’ve done some gardening, digging up and clearing weeds. I’ve lots more to do, but it’s under way! This weekend Tarbert has hosted the Scottish Series sailing competitions, and the harbour has been a buzz of activity. It’s always good fun.

I’ve also drafted up our Disneyland Paris half marathon training plan and it begins in earnest tomorrow. You know I’ve tried lots of plans- Nike, Hal Higdon amongst others. This time I’ve designed my own. I want to keep my runs to three per week and I’ve built in some cross training, especially PiYo, active recovery and two day’s rest per week. I’m also starting with short runs to build momentum and my confidence. Since I’ve been injured, I want to build up slowly and steadily by not taking on too much too soon. Tomorrow’s two miler should be steady, easily achievable and hot hot hot!

Here’s my motivation to kick off the week:

For me, it’s all about that self belief.

Have a good week!
