The Only Way is UP

The Only Way is UP

You probably know that I love my fitness trackers. I jumped straight in there years ago, when Nike lit up the market with their FuelBand. I LOVED mine!

Or I did, until it corroded and burned my arm 😦

But Nike replaced it, this time for the newly released white one. Until that stopped working. So they replaced that one too.

Then, the third one conked out. But Nike had brought out the FuelBand SE so there were no more swaps (even though I reckon three bands in a short space of time, given the cost, is not a good record, Nike) 😦

So I’ve been eyeing up options for the past few months. And while I’m *hinting* for an Apple Watch, I know there will be times I’m not with my phone, or it runs out of charge, or I won’t risk wearing it. I still *need* a tracker 😉

I’ve opted for the Jawbone UP 24. I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and I love it! It’s a lil’ snug (thank you weight gain) but that will be temporary. It links to lots of apps that I use a lot, most importantly it links to MyFitnessPal and do it logs all of my food automatically!

I’ve also been using UP Coffee, Bounts and a few other apps too. It tracks my calorie intake, my sleep, steps and exercise. The app is so easy to use, and I can tell at a glance where I am with progress at any point in my day 🙂

The battery life is around 7 days, it’s easy to charge and it charges quickly too.

Does anyone else have an UP band, what do you think about it? Which is your favourite fitness tracker?

Catching up with 5×50

Catching up with 5×50

Betcha didn’t expect to hear from me tonight? 😉

Just a quick post to say that, already, we’re on day 31 of the 5×50 challenge. Oooft, that’s come in quickly!

While I’ve been getting in my average of 5k or 30 minutes each day (I know because my Up band told me so), I hadn’t been logging it. My bad.

Tonight, I ran 2 miles then walked another 2 miles- go me! Not outside, but on the ‘mill. Watching Suits. I then logged my 5×50 and was surprised how the kilometres add up quickly:  Not too shabby! I’ve also got my training schedule tightened a little, after working out the basics of it last night.

All in all, it’s been a productive Tuesday 😀

Evening, friends.

I’m on a roll so far with my 5×50 challenge, I rowed and walked for day one; and I’m counting my Clubbercise class for today. I’m sorry to just pop in for a brief post today: gotta go!

Meanwhile:

I’ll try to pop by later in the week if I can- I have a roller coaster week ahead.

A 5×50 Hat Trick

A 5×50 Hat Trick

Well, better late than never- for the third year in a row, I’ve signed up for the 5×50 Challenge.

This challenge encourages all participants to carry out 5k of walking, running or cycling each day or 30 minutes of activity- an exercise class, fitness DVD or strength training.

It kick off tomorrow, so if you fancy signing up, you’d best get your skates on! Sign up here.

I’m off for a wet and windy run- wish me luck! ☺️

Hello. Sorry for my lack of posts this week, but it’s been a tough week. Unfortunately, it hasn’t left me much time for blogging, nor for much else.

Having said that, here’s another new week which I’ve started with a stressful day at work followed by a great endorphin-releasing Clubbercise class.

Boy, did I need that!

I seem to be really out of step (pardon the pun) with my running. I think it’s a mental barrier, but it’s holding me back more than I’d like. Do you ever get weeks where you just can’t get past the Toxic 20? And it’s really draining? Well, yeah, that’s been me.

And now it’s crunch time: get back on track this week or jeopardise my next half marathon- the Mull of Kintyre.

I’m going for it- and getting back on that horse!

I hope you’ve got your training on track 🙂

Hello there! How’s your Monday? Did you have a good weekend? Mine was fabulous!

My bestie, her hubby and two kids were through for the weekend and it was great! Plenty of fresh air, good food and fantastic company. We had a good laugh and plenty of gossip 😉

The record player was going, and we had a lot of fun.

Now it’s back to routine, with Clubbercise tonight. I’m sure I have a few extra pounds to lose that I didn’t have on Friday…. 😮

I’ve been struggling on my runs recently. Rather than beating myself up about it, I’m looking at it like this. I’m going to pause, and look at what I am doing.

Have a great week!

*New Challenge Alert*

*New Challenge Alert*

Week one of half marathon training and so far, so good! We did a 5k treadmill run on Tuesday, and a lovely three miler on Wednesday. Thursday didn’t happen because we were out for the evening, but tomorrow’s run will make it three-in-a-week for the first time in forever!

I’ve also just joined a local plank challenge – eek! I know loads of these are started and abandoned every month, and it’s hard to stay accountable. Well, knowing that lots of ladies (and guys) are accountable together will, I hope, keep me committed.

Day one, two and three are done, and as ever it’s tough when you haven’t done it in a while 😉

And it’s almost time for 5×50: this is a great time of year for feels good and working hard!

Evening, all.

It’s that time of year again: half marathon training is GO! And it kicks off with a rest day, hurrah!

Our next half is the Mull of Kintyre half marathon, which sold out in a couple of hours. It’s consistently voted best half in Britain, and includes a beach run 😮

I’ve done the 10k before, but never the half- I’m quite excited about it!

We’ve also secured places in the Great North Run and will be signing up for the Great Scottish Run too. It should be a great year- if I can fit into my running gear, that is!

@TheWelshWookie secured a GNR charity place and so we are going to run and raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care. I’ll keep you posted on our progress.

Here’s a little something to celebrate a special birthday today:

I love that ;)
