Oh, my goodness. What a weekend!

Glasgow is absolutely buzzing with activity, fun, entertainment, visitors, Clydesiders, athletes and all sorts! Have you managed to catch any of the Commonwealth Games this weekend?

We were at the concert on Friday, judo on Saturday morning, the 2014 Festival at Glasgow Green in the afternoon, dinner at Brown’s in the evening followed by the marathon on the Sunday, where we met Allison, The Running Princess and her hubby Steve.

I’ll share my pics from the weekend later in the week.

For now, here’s some inspiration courtesy of Team Scotland:

And, here’s Usain Bolt meeting Clyde!

Here’s to another fabulous week of sport!

Welcome to another week: I hope the sun has been shining brightly on you today.

I’ve had a wonderful weekend: we’ve had visitors and it’s been wonderful spending time with my bestie Pauline, her other better half Gavin, Olivia and Christopher. We took a trip to Portavadie, visited the abandoned village Polphail, and did lots of talking, eating and walking. And a little drinking of vino and champagne, of course! 😉

As always, talk turned to books, and we ended up discussing the books of Jon Ronson: they recommended reading Them and The Psychopath Test. I downloaded both, and read Them last night, finishing it at lunchtime today. I’m now almost half way through The Psychopath Test and I’m really enjoying it too. They’re fascinating!

So, here’s a little something to think about: not so much Monday Motivation, more like a Monday Mental Check, I suppose!

I reckon mine is showing quite clearly….. is yours? 😛

Why, hello there, stranger!

Did you miss me?

I know that I had said I’d do a couple of posts while I was in Tenerife, but it didn’t happen. I didn’t have much access to WiFi, and I used up my phone data quite quickly! Ooops! 😉

And, on top of that, my web domain expired while I was away – I had completely forgotten about it! Ooops again! 😮

So, I’m very sorry for the accidental blogging break. But, I’m back, and I’m really looking forward to catching up on your blogs over the next couple of weeks, and seeing what I have missed.

Here’s a little something that sums up the past couple of weeks for me:

So, what big news have I missed?

Happy Monday! Did you miss me, as I’ve been AWOL the last few days? 😉

I’m afraid that I’ve been nursing a bit of an ankle injury. Well, erm, I haven’t actually injured it yet, but it has been feeling a little tender, just how it did before I damaged the ligaments two and a half years ago.

I’ve been very lucky, as I’ve been injury-free since then. But, with a holiday to Tenerife starting this weekend, I really don’t want to take any chances. The last thing I need is to be hobbling up and down hills on holiday!

So, my marathon training has been paused, though I’d much rather take a few days off from running now, than be forced into weeks of RICE. 🙂

I did do gardening and weeding this weekend, leaving me with some mighty DOMS: surely that counts as cross-training, right?

Here are four very simple, but very powerful words:

Be it training for a marathon, recovering from injury, or anything else, this is so true. Don’t you think?

Are you having a good Monday?

We’ve had glorious sunshine all weekend, and today, and it’s set to continue over the next few days. Hurrah!

Did you celebrate World Gin Day on Saturday? I did – I’ll tell you more about it later in the week 😉

Yesterday, I got in my first run (at home) in a vest – summer is definitely on its way!

Here’s something that jumped out at me recently: I really do think that it is true….

Just remember, when you’re in the midst of the chaos, calm waters aren’t too far away.

Are you enjoying summer weather where you are?

Hello, everyone! How has your weekend been?

I’ve had a fab weekend, running my section of the GB Relay 2014. It felt fantastic to be part of something that 1000’s of runners are involved in over the coming couple of weeks 🙂

Today I’m having a rest day after yesterday’s 8 mile walk & 8 mile run.

I found myself asking ‘Am I mad?’ a few times yesterday, which brought this quote to mind:

Clearly, I must be bonkers……….. are you? Have a crazy week!

Welcome to Monday, people 🙂  Has your week started with sunshine or showers?

We’ve had both, which has kinda matched my mood today 😉 I’m thinking sunshine right now!

Here’s something that I’ve seen and read a couple of times recently:

Brilliant. Just brilliant. This is one for me to remember this week.

It changes my perspective on the rain…..

Have a great week, and enjoy your running: even if it’s in the rain 🙂

Welcome to Monday.  Is it a holiday where you are? It isn’t here in Argyll, so I’ve been busy working all day.

Today is day one of my Hal Higdon Marathon training programme. And it’s a rest day 😉  I’ve been really inspired by everyone’s running this weekend, be it at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, Mull of Kintyre runs, Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool, Bupa 10K or many other runs. Well done!

Here’s something to set up your week:

Absolutely. How are you going to be of value this week?

Happy Monday! Did you have fun this weekend?

I’m happy to report that we’re really pleased with our route for the GB Relay. Most of it is along a cycle path, and is reasonably flat/undulating with no stonking great big hills!

But here we are, back to the working week. Do you sit at a desk while working? I used to. For the past year or so I’ve been standing most of the time. I moved my laptop stand from my desk, and rearranged my office so that I could stand when using my laptop. My phone is right beside it, and all of my important files are in the drawers below, as I’m using a three drawer filing cabinet as a ‘standing desk’. It’s the perfect height for me to work at comfortably.

When I need to focus on a piece of work, I can sit at my desk and concentrate, without being distracted by incoming emails.  I have plenty of room for laying out work, so it’s much harder for papers to go AWOL, or be abandoned due to other distractions. For me, it’s a win-win 🙂

At first, I thought I’d perhaps do it for a few weeks. I’ve now been doing it for so long it’s second nature. Also, as my ‘standing desk’ area is looking out of the window, I get to enjoy the views too!

Here’s an interesting infographic I found on Pinterest, which I thought I’d share:

Do you sit, stand or walk all day?

Welcome to another wonderful week!

I hope you enjoyed @TheWelshWookie’s first ever blog post yesterday: I think it’s good to have a different perspective on a race sometimes. That’s probably one of the reasons why I love reading blogs 🙂

This made me smile today:

Absolutely. Are you planning on making the tough choices this week?
