Monday Motivation

Monday Motivation

Sorry for missing a post last week, @TheWelshWookie and I had spent the weekend in Dumbarton for my cousin’s twins Christening last Sunday. We had a lovely day! So my blog posting suffered. Oops! While we were there, and having the Monday off, we had health checks done. And it was good news, thankfully 😅

We had blood pressure checks as well as cholesterol and glucose checks. All fine. I discovered I’m a half inch taller than I thought I was 😆 and my BMI is heading in the right direction, phew!

With that done, I missed my Body Conditioning/WAR class, though. Hmmm, I can’t have everything! But for the rest of the week I stayed on track, running on Tuesday and Wednesday and doing PiYo and VeraFlow on Thursday.

My parents were though at the weekend, and yet again Tarbert and it’s people did what they do best: have a weekend of fun, music and entertainment. At the Fèis I tried whistle and learned some new guitar techniques. Our tutors were Craig and Mohsen from the Scottish Trad music group Talisk. If you haven’t heard them, check them out!

Today I was back at Body Conditioning/WAR and I worked hard! Jacqui is heading off on holiday, so I wanted to make the most of it and get my sweat on 😉  and when I got home, I had a parcel waiting for me: new trainers! Yay! All three of my current trainers have around 300 miles in them, so I really needed to get another pair in the mix. I love em!  Tomorrow I’m off to Aviemore for work and I’m deliberating about which trainers to pack… decisions, decisions!

Here’s your motivation kick start for today:  Have a great week!

All I want for Christmas is…

All I want for Christmas is…

Is it too early to share my running Santa list with you?

No?

Good.

Dear Santa,

I’ve been a good girl sometimes this year, and I have tried my hardest to run well, eat well and blog well. Here are the top five things on my Christmas Wish List:

1. Nike Shield LunarGlides. My fave shoes, waterproofed and reflective. What’s not to love?

2. Ron Hill Vizion Photon Jacket. This is flattering, water and wind tight. And pink. Lovely!

3. Ron Hill LED running cap. Perfect for running on dark nights 😉

4. Lock laces. No more lace malfunctions during runs. Genius!

5. Saucony ladies ruched hoody. Comfy and stylish. My two faves rolled into one!

Santa, do you mind if I sneak in a sixth favourite? If you can’t decide which of these I deserve, these would be good too:

Thank you very much. I’ll remember to leave you a glass of sherry and a mince pie on Christmas Eve, I promise.

Your friend,

What’s on your Christmas running wish list this year?

Storage Wars?

Storage Wars?

On Saturday, my running blog friend Bernie from Get Going – Get Running wrote about his pile of running shoes, that his girlfriend is (quite rightly) fed up with. And it got me thinking- this is a problem that most of us runner have.

And I’ll admit that I agree……. with both Bernie and his better half!

Both @TheWelshWookie and I have too many pairs of trainers: old ones, new ones, trail shoes, racing flats, comfies, minimalist. You name it, we’ve got it. As long as they’re Nike Lunars 😉

I really want a pair of these:

Santa, if you’re reading…….. Anyway, I digress.

When @TheWelshWookie and I were completely fed up with tripping over trainers in the kitchen, we visited IKEA.

And we purchased this:

Voila! Suddenly, the problem was solved!

I use the little storage shelf for all of the running stuff I use all the time: gloves, waistpack, yurbuds, etc. We have an iPod dock on the top, which I use to charge my iPod or iPhone after my run. It’s perfect!

And all of those pesky trainers are tidied away, out of sight:

And I think I need another one already! 😀

Today’s Stats:

Run: 2 easy miles on the treadmill. I’m keeping it easy this week, since I have my 10K MoRun on Saturday.

Time: 23:34

Weather: cold – I had to scrape frost from my car this morning, the first time this autumn!

Trainers: Nike FreeRun +5

Pile on the Miles so far: 20K

How do you store your running shoes and peripherals at home? Any tips?

The Perfect Present

The Perfect Present

I know that I’m very lucky, since @TheWelshWookie supports my running, and also runs with me.

For my birthday last year he got me my Nike LunaryFly GTX:

I love these shoes, they’re great!

This year, he got me a new Ron Hill running jacket; perfect timing, since the weather has definitely turned cooler!

Thanks, Wookie! I love it! I know I’ll get great use out of it now, and again in the spring.

I also received another wonderful surprise last night: I PLACED in a run!  I was the third female across the line at the CowalFest 5K on Saturday! I’m going to be crowing about this for a long time 😀

The plan for the rest of my birthday is playing football with my nephews, dinner at the cafe, and more Harry Potter. And perhaps a celebratory glass of vino!
