Monday Motivation

I’ve not blogged for a couple of weeks, as we’ve been on holiday. It was good to step back and change up my routine with no pressure to keep anything up. We had a bit of a staycation: we visited places in North Wales before going to the Midlands and the coming back up via York. We had a great time!

During the first week, we kept our eating more or less on track, but we’re much more relaxed during the second week. And though we didn’t have any formal fitness plans, we did an awful lot of walking almost every day, often getting around 15,000 – 20,000 steps in. So all in all, not bad!

We are getting back into a routine this week. No circuits tonight, but we got a lovely long walk in after work instead.

Have a good week, whether you are in holiday, working or getting back, and don’t forget:

Hello! Yesterday I did something I hadn’t done so far in 2018. I ran in an organised race! I can’t believe it is half way through the year and it’s my first of the year so far.

I ran in the Great Women’s Run, a 10k in Glasgow. I’ve done it a few times before but not for several years, and not since the route changed. The changes were for the better- and it was amazing! I ran with my sis-in-law Janice who achieved a fabulous time of 53 minutes 👏🏻 and her friend Claire who also ran in a great time of under an hour!

Here’s the medal: and the T shirt and goody bag: I’m feeling it tonight though, but I did go to circuits which was tough on my tired body!

Last week’s round up:

Monday- circuits

Tuesday- Trigger Point Pilates

Wednesday- Jog Scotland Corranbuie route

Thursday- PiYo

Friday- walk

Saturday- walk

Sunday- 10k race

It’s three weeks until I have a holiday. We haven’t had time off since Christmas so my body- and my mind- are ready for it!

Here’s your motivation for this week-

Have a great week!

After a tough week the week before last, I finally managed to have a more structured week with my health and fitness last week. My cold was still there, and it has lasted into this week, which is really unusual- I normally find a cold shifting after a few days, and long gone within a week. Alas, not this time. Anyway, last week was better than the previous one, and my activity diary looked like this:

Monday- body blitz circuits

Tuesday- Trigger Point Pilates

Wednesday- Jog Scotland, hill repeats

Thursday- PiYo

Friday- Walk

Saturday- Walk

Sunday- rest

Monday’s circuit class was a tough one. I really love starting my week with this class, but having the cold really curtailed my performance. On Tuesday I was on Islay but I just made it back in time for TPP which I was very grateful for after a long day. Wednesday meanwhile I made it back to Jog Scotland and although I was feeling better, I struggled on the hills and didn’t perform as well as I would have liked but I ground it out and got it done. I had another busy day on Thursday but was back in time for PiYo. We had a couple of beginners join us so the pace was slower than usual which my weary body was grateful for! On Friday I had another early start and another ferry journey, this time to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. It was a gorgeous day, and in the evening we went for a walk to get the heart rate up a bit! I had planned a run on Saturday after Clarsach class, but with the sun out again we spent some time in the garden doing more tidying up including weeding and mowing before heading out for a lovely relaxing walk to make the most of the weather. It was just what I needed after a busy week.

Today I’ve been in Helensburgh but made it back- just in time for Circuits and my performance was much improved from last week. That pesky cold is still hanging around but it’s slowly shifting. Yay!

My eating has been pretty inconsistent this week with some days better than others. We’ve been better this weekend, and my evening meals have been jam packed with good food and veggies. It’s been the eating-on-the-go that has been the issue! Oh well, back to it.

Here’s today’s motivation:

Have a great week!

Just a short post from me today on this bank holiday Monday:

Have a brilliant week!

Spring has arrived in Tarbert!

We’ve had a fabulous, sunny weekend which has been a welcome and long awaited change- and we made the most of it.

I’ve had a bit of a better week in terms of my nutrition and I’ve also had a solid week keeping my 5×50 challenge on track. Here’s how it happened:

Monday- circuits. Love this class, it’s a great HIIT session balancing cardio and strength working virtually every part of my body. It’s ace!

Tuesday- Trigger Point Pilates

Wednesday- an appointment meant that I missed Jog Scotland but I did get a brisk walk in instead

Thursday- PiYo where we built in the previous week, developing this new round

Friday- recovery walk

Saturday- another walk. I planned to run, but I had lots on and didn’t manage to squeeze that in, but I did get a good walk in while getting stuff done

Sunday- we spent three hours in the garden weeding, scraping, clearing, pruning and cutting back. I must have done hundreds of squats so I’m definitely counting it as my exercise. I felt it today!

I came across this post on Pinterest and thought I’d share it with you. I think it’s something that really sends a clear message that- sometimes- we all need to hear: Have a good week everyone 🙂

Spring has sprung, at long last and I find myself looking out at glorious sunshine for a rare change. It really does lift the mood and make me feel more eager to stay on my health and well-being path.

I managed to do that for most of last week. I went for a lovely 4 Mile Run on Monday, and then treated my muscles to Trigger Point Pilates on Tuesday. I then ran another 5k on Wednesday before going to PiYo on Thursday where we went back to the ’80s and did round 40. Boy, was that tough on the lower body! I had planned a run on Friday but went for a walk instead as my legs were tired. Saturday and Sunday we’re both walks, so I haven’t managed to squeeze in that extra run just yet but I have managed to keep my 5×50 Challenge on track. We are almost half way!

Tonight we’re having a circuits class for a change, and I’m really looking forward to it…. I think! Summer body, here I come! 🙈

Well, it’s a bit of a Winter Wonderland to start the week here in Tarbert with snow blanketing the village, making it look like a Christmas Card. But I’ve had enough of the festive imagery and I am ready for the snow to go…. we’ve had much more than usual, and it has played havoc with my routine!

Last week I started off well with Glo, followed immediately by Sculpt, a 45 minute session doing some resistance band training. And it was good! I had serious DOMS afterwards 👍🏻

We didn’t have any other classes during the week, but I did manage a solid 5k in Thursday and plenty of walking when it was just too icy for me to run. I had hoped to get another run in at the weekend but this weather has put paid to that idea. Oh well!

On the food front, I’ve been much more consistent with healthier choices and healthy snacks taking priority for most of the week. Hurrah! A solid week at last. I finally feel like I’m making some progress. I’m not where I’d like to be, but it’s all about enjoying the journey, am I right?

Have a good week- and stay on track!

Hello! How was your week? Mine was busy, but great fun. We were on holiday, spending three days in Somerset and three days in Edinburgh, so we pretty much covered the country from one end to another!

We did plenty of walking and we enjoyed lots of great food – as well as a few gins 😁

But I’m back to my routine today, so I did my Sunday night food prep so that I could start on track first thing.

Here’s to a new week, and here’s your motivation right here:

Hello! How has your week and weekend been?

I’ve been really focussed, on my health, my food and my fitness 👍🏻 Jacqui has been running a 10 day accountability/clean eating challenge which was just what I needed. Thanks Jacqui! It started last Monday, so we are already in day eight and I have loved it.

I’ve focussed on eating well- and cleanly- with no junk, no alcohol, no empty calories, and on staying active. To that end, I went to every class last week, which was great. Here was how my week looked:

Monday- no WAR, but as I reported last week, we did a lovely hill walk during the day instead

Tuesday- Stability ball class and PiYo Stretch and Flow. Doing the Doubler is great!

Wednesday- a wet Jog Scotland run, which I thoroughly enjoyed

Thursday- PiYo signature round, for the first time in ages

Friday- Wii Fit

I didn’t do anything in particular over weekend as we had a quiet weekend planned, and it felt great! On Sunday evening a cold started to appear, but I’m pushing through as best as I can, it explains why I needed some extra R and R this weekend!

When the challenge comes to an end on Wednesday night I’m planning on keeping it on track, but loosening the rules only ever so slightly. I’m excited to check out my measurements on Wednesday night!

Here’s some positivity to help kickstart your week if you need it:  Have a great week!

Hello, sorry for the lack of posts: I’ve had a short break, with visitors and other things going on. Also, we’ve had a break from classes so I haven’t had too much to report on.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been running sporadically and walking a lot, recovering from my adventures during the summer. Last Saturday was the Tarbert TT10K, and we took part in The Dooker’s Doubler by running both the 5k and 10k. It was warm and humid which was very unusual. As ever, it was a brilliant event, but since then I’ve been a little floored by a cold which has- unusually- wiped me out a bit. I’m on the mend now, though. This year’s TT10K shirt is my favourite ever- black and yellow with long sleeves, I’m looking forward to trying it out in the autumn and winter:  Tonight, it felt fab to be back at WAR, it was tough as we’ve had a few weeks off, but it felt so good to get working out again. It’s the only class I’ll make this week, but I’m planning on a few runs to keep my training for the Great Scottish Run on track.

Here’s some positivity for you tonight:  Time for me to get consistent again. Have a good week 🙂
