What an eventful weekend!
My brother Michael’s 30th Birthday celebrations had to be postponed due to the nasty weather, so we had an impromptu night of steak ‘n’ wine and vinyl LPs instead.
@TheWelshWookie had a trip to minor injuries (it’s ok, he’s fine) as did my brother Ants- must be in the name!
We then had a Taken marathon, and a very successful trip to IKEA too.
Phew! I’m back at work for a rest!
Given the state of our pavements, a run is impossible tonight: they are covered in thick, glassy, treacherous ice 😦
There’s only one person I could possibly quote today:

Hello!
Have you survived being battered and blown about this weekend? We have. Part of our fence came down, but given the storm force winds. I’m ok with that 🙂
How’s your running going? Mine has stalled a little- again- but I’m back on track! It’s two steps forward here at the moment!
This time last year, I was in Final Wedding Planning mode: by contrast, I’ve been planning some home decorating over the coming weekends. Bet @TheWelshWookie can’t wait!
Here’s today’s motivation:

I love this!
Have a great week 🙂

How are your New Year health resolutions going? Do you make any?
I don’t make specific resolutions, but I do enjoy refocusing and re establishing routines after the festive season.
And my first workout of Jantastic is under my belt- Woo Hoo!
Saturday was my first run in a while and, boy, did I struggle- I felt like an old lady, huffing and puffing (and a little walking) my way through a short two mile run. Tonight I mixed it up a little, with some exercise bike and strength work.
Now I’m basking in post-exercise endorphins, and plotting my runs for the year. I’ve signed up for two so far: the Mull of Kintyre half marathon which, as ever, sold out within a couple of hours! It’s been voted the best run in the UK by Runner’s World many times. And I’ve also scheduled in my postponed GNR which I’m definitely planning to do in 2015.
Here’s something that suits my mood today:

Go for it! 😀

Jantastic!

Jantastic!

If, like me, you’ve had a wonderful week of eating, drinking and lazing then you might be ready for a fitness shake up. So, wit this in mind, I’ve just signed up for Jantastic 2015!

I’m all set, and raring to go again on 5th January.

Bring it on! 😀

Christmas.

Christmas.

This year’s celebration has been muted by the dreadful crash in Glasgow’s George Square on Monday, killing six people, including three from my home town.
The lorry crashed into the Millennium Hotel at Queen St station, just as we were sitting in the Grand Central hotel at Glasgow Central station: we are feeling lucky.
Best wishes to you all for the festive season, make the most of every minute.

So, is anyone suffering from Christmas fatigue yet? No? Good! Me neither! 😛

All of my Christmas cards have been posted, gifts all wrapped and packed, the house fully decorated – even down to the Christmas bedding (washed with Winter Spice scented fabric softener, no less)! I’m thoroughly enjoying it!

We’ve has the first winter ice, which is always a danger when you’re as bambi-esque as I am at the best of times, with no sense of balance. Fortunately, it’s melted again for now, and we’re back to rain.

At this time of year, though, it can be easy to become caught up in the commercialism and spend, spend, spend – and to try to keep up with the excesses of the season with parties and events. But, despite my love for the season, I still try to remember that some things are much more important; and that spending quality time with loved ones is the best way to celebrate. This Maya Angelou quote can be interpreted in many ways, but it resonates in this context for me at the moment:

Have a wonderful week- and don’t get too caught up in everything.
