The Christmas Scarf

Happy Monday, everyone!
And Happy Christmas Eve’s Eve!

My new Christmas scarf arrived, just in time for returning to work today:

No running for us tonight: it’s wild out there again! But @TheWelshWookie and I do need to agree the distance we are going to run on Christmas Day.
Any suggestions? Are you planning a run for tomorrow or Wednesday?

Friday’s Photo

It’s Friday night, and I’m heading out to a hen night.
So, here’s a photo of my sister’s Christmas Tree, to add to the festive feeling! 🙂

An Unplanned Trip

An Unplanned Trip

Today, @TheWelshWookie and I find ourselves on the train heading to Coventry, for an unplanned trip.

At least we’re not driving!

It’ll be good to see family an extra time before Christmas 🙂

Mind and be good while we’re away!

Running in a Hoolie

Running in a Hoolie

Afternoon, all, I hope your weekend is off to a brilliant start!

We have more gale force winds forecast for today, and so I’m blogging while I still have power: pray it stays on, please!

@TheWelshWookie and I have braved the wind and the rain, and we have been for a run down the harbour.

It was blowing a hoolie!

I fair enjoyed it, though it was only a short run. The village still looks strangely welcoming in the midst of a storm:

Now, we’re drying off, thawing out and hunkering down for an afternoon of movies, kicking off with Santa Claus: The Movie I think!

Anyone else running through the gales or other poor weather today?

You’d better watch out….

You’d better watch out….

Guess who came to visit the kids in Tarbert tonight?

Baubles from Run Destinations

Baubles from Run Destinations

When you’re away in a different city and running, do you buy yourself souvenirs?
I do! 🙂
Here are some of the new baubles we have collected this year:

20131208-174837.jpg
The first is my Harrods bauble, which I picked up when I was in London for The Color Run UK back in July. We always buy a Harrods bauble each year, and have done that since 2007, so we now have seven!
Next, is the silver ornament we bought at the Guinness factory in Dublin. We picked this up when we visited for the inaugural RnR Dublin half marathon in August.
Bottom right is a wooden heart with a reindeer’s head, which I got when in Centre Parcs for the Hen Do. Not a race, but I did go for a run that day.
Finally, the sparkly red reindeer is from The Tree Shop at Cairndow. We stopped off there after the inaugural CowalFest trail run, which was in October.
@TheWelshWookie and I have also given in to temptation, and bought some festive goodies.
We now have stollen, as well as these:

I’m looking forward to having a glass of mulled cider, and to tasting these cinnamon Pringles! They also had Mint Choc Pringles, but I though those were a step too far!
Anyone else tried those?
Meanwhile this weekend, I seem to have transformed completely into the embarrassing old auntie….

All I want for Christmas is…

All I want for Christmas is…

Is it too early to share my running Santa list with you?

No?

Good.

Dear Santa,

I’ve been a good girl sometimes this year, and I have tried my hardest to run well, eat well and blog well. Here are the top five things on my Christmas Wish List:

1. Nike Shield LunarGlides. My fave shoes, waterproofed and reflective. What’s not to love?

2. Ron Hill Vizion Photon Jacket. This is flattering, water and wind tight. And pink. Lovely!

3. Ron Hill LED running cap. Perfect for running on dark nights 😉

51455

4. Lock laces. No more lace malfunctions during runs. Genius!

5. Saucony ladies ruched hoody. Comfy and stylish. My two faves rolled into one!

Santa, do you mind if I sneak in a sixth favourite? If you can’t decide which of these I deserve, these would be good too:

Thank you very much. I’ll remember to leave you a glass of sherry and a mince pie on Christmas Eve, I promise.

Your friend,

TartanJogger x

What’s on your Christmas running wish list this year?

Advent

Advent

It’s advent! This year, @TheWelshWookie and I have advent calendars. Every year, we have an advent train, that we fill with chocolates every year.
However, this year we succumbed to temptation, and bought advent calendars, too.
TheWookie has a Lindt chocolate one, and he has kicked off advent with a dark chilli cherry mousse chocolate. Here’s his calendar:

I have a zero-calorie calendar, a Yankee Candle one:

My first tea light is a Christmas cookie one, it smells delicious!
It’s lovely, that the first Sunday in advent has actually coincided with 1st December!
Do you have any advent traditions?

On My Way Today

On My Way Today

I’ve been saying how the weather has turned cold and wintry recently. I though that, today, I’d show you.

And so, I took a couple of snaps to and from Helensburgh today. Also, because the scenery is lovely 😉

Here’s a view looking down Loch Fyne, from Lochgilphead. You can see the Isle of Arran in the distance. #nofilter20131121-150959.jpg

This picture is of the snow peaked Arrochar Alps, just peeking out behind the hill, as you leave Inveraray:20131121-151109.jpg

And here’s Inveraray itself:20131121-151153.jpg

These next two pics are of Loch Long, from Arrochar at the head of the Loch:20131121-151237.jpg

20131121-151338.jpg

And this final pic is of the helicopter taking equipment to the guys at the Rest and Be Thankful, who are still working to reduce the landslips. The traffic was stopped both ways to allow the helicopter to fly right in, in front of me 🙂20131121-151452.jpgSo, after my four hours in the car, I’m looking forward  to hammering the treadmill and rower tonight.

Then, it’s time to pack for another weekend away, and for a glass of vino 😉

What was  your commute like today?
