Monday Motivation

Monday Motivation

Hello, everyone. Did you have a good week/weekend? I did- I had a lovely long weekend, with lots and lots of Christmas shopping; so much so that my present shopping is done! I’d love to say that I can now relax and enjoy the season, and that’s partly true but I’m busy, busy as ever 😉

Last Monday, I omitted details of my weekend, when we had another chapter in my ‘big birthday’ celebration! I had no idea, and so the whole weekend was a wonderful surprise. The girls had a fabulous spa day at The Carrick on Loch Lomond, where we made use of the facilities including the gorgeous infinity pool. I was even treated to a full body hot stones massage. Bliss. The fizz was flowing, of course 🙂

Afterwards, the guys all joined us for dinner at the Boat House at Cameron House, which was absolutely delish. We then headed back to Joe and Stacey’s new house for a party. Brilliant! I was a great day.

I’ve been very lucky, with so, so many birthday treats. I’m one very fortunate girl.

And so, here’s my current thoughts:

Enjoy your week!

The Sisters

No, not MY sisters. THE sisters!

It’s the restaurant we visited for my mum’s birthday on Saturday night.

Jacqueline and Pauline O’Donnell are the sisters behind these two Glasgow restaurants, and we visited their Glasgow Kelvingrove restaurant.

The venue is quite small, but very comfortable, and it was very busy when we arrived. The menu was amazing: all freshly prepared, locally sourced ingredients, and it was cooked so well. I’d love to make a return visit!

To start, I had brioche topped with mushrooms and a port and red onion chutney. The portion was very generous. I then had the fish of the day, which was a fillet of sea bass in a lobster cream sauce, with some chive mash and queenie scallops. Wow. It was amazing.

While everyone else tucked into dessert, I had a coffee, as I couldn’t fit one in!

The service from our waitress, Kirsty, was fantastic.

I also found out that Jacqueline, who is head chef, will be one of the chefs representing Scotland on the 2014 Great British Menu, which is great! It’s the first time that a chef from Glasgow will be competing, and the first Scottish woman to compete. She will be following in the footsteps of other Scottish competitors, like Tom Kitchin, Alan Murchison and Tony Singh.

I’m looking forward to seeing how she does!

Family Fun, and Back on Track

Hello, Happy Monday!

I’ve had a fantastic weekend!

Saturday was a girl’s day out with my sisters and my mum: we hit the town, with a trip to Glasgow’s West End, and had tapas at Cafe Andaluz. It was amazing!

Sunday was KAD’s 5th Birthday party. Since the weather was brilliant, we spent the whole day outside, and had a ball. I thought you might like to meet the Magnificent Seven, since I’ve been talking about them all week:

I also won a comp this weekend, over on RunEatRepeat and I’m so pleased! It’s an identity bracelet for runners, and I’m planning to order it tonight. It’s from CrossTrainID so I’m heading over there now to take a look. 😀

Today, it’s back to training. Six weeks to go until the Great Scottish Run 10k, and so the Nike Training Plan has begun, with a 3 miler. Bring it on!

Today’s Stats:

Run: 3 miles, and it felt good to be focused again!

Time: 32:22, nice and slow

Weather: Cloudy with some sunshine; warm

Favourite Running Track Today: one of my PowerSongs
