Monday Motivation

Hello, and despite the rain, hail and gale force winds, welcome to summer!

How has the past week been? Mine has been ace. My training has gone really well, and my 10k/half marathon training is on track:

16 miles and cross training done: ye-haaa! 😀

I had another fab paddle boarding session on Saturday, followed by a book signing by local author Denzil Meyrick. I read his first book on Saturday and I’m well into book two. If you like crime fiction, I’m sure you’ll love his books.

I’m ready for this coming week: my cold is almost gone, so I’m off to Clubbercise and will then have a three mile walk afterwards. It’s not walking friendly weather out there, so the dreadmill will have to do.

Here’s my motivation for the week, as my focus begins to look forward to the Great North Run:

 Have a brilliant week!

Hello, have you had a good bank holiday? If you’ve been working, I hope it has been ok. I’ve been off today, and so I’ve caught up on the housework I skipped this weekend. It always feels good when it’s done, doesn’t it?

I’ve just been to Clubbercise, had dinner, and I’m going to round the long weekend off with another dip in the hot tub.

I feel like I have made progress this week- I stayed on track with my fitness and wellbeing goals. I’m hoping that this week will be equally as successful. I hope yours is too 🙂

A 5×50 Hat Trick

A 5×50 Hat Trick

Well, better late than never- for the third year in a row, I’ve signed up for the 5×50 Challenge.

This challenge encourages all participants to carry out 5k of walking, running or cycling each day or 30 minutes of activity- an exercise class, fitness DVD or strength training.

It kick off tomorrow, so if you fancy signing up, you’d best get your skates on! Sign up here.

I’m off for a wet and windy run- wish me luck! ☺️

Hello there! How’s your Monday? Did you have a good weekend? Mine was fabulous!

My bestie, her hubby and two kids were through for the weekend and it was great! Plenty of fresh air, good food and fantastic company. We had a good laugh and plenty of gossip 😉

The record player was going, and we had a lot of fun.

Now it’s back to routine, with Clubbercise tonight. I’m sure I have a few extra pounds to lose that I didn’t have on Friday…. 😮

I’ve been struggling on my runs recently. Rather than beating myself up about it, I’m looking at it like this. I’m going to pause, and look at what I am doing.

Have a great week!

Reasons to be Happy

Reasons to be Happy

This week I’ve had many reasons to be happy. Here’s some of them.

1. @TheWelshWookie and I have a lunch date planned for tomorrow – I’m looking forward to it!
2. I’ve been tinkering with my tablet PC, which I’ve had for over a year, and found lots of features I didn’t know it had. Fantastic!
3. It’s been a week of candles and blankets – very autumnal.

I-live-for-Autumn
4. A surprise delivery through the post cheered me up mid week.
5. @TheWelshWookie and I have booked our trip to Coventry at Christmas. And we managed to book it at a bargain price.

What are your reasons to be happy this week?

Well, it’s been another busy weekend for me: on Saturday morning, I ran the Great Scottish Run family mile with my sis-in-law Stacey, and my nephews Ryan and Aidan. It was really great to see lots of families enjoying the day.

Aidan, who has just turned four, ran the whole mile- he did an amazing job!

The boys also met Ross Murdoch, the commonwealth gold medallist swimmer, from Team Scotland: he was so lovely – he autographed the boy’s t-shirts, and as we crossed the start line, Aidan got a high-5 from him!

In the afternoon, we had my bestie Pauline’s Hen Do. We had cocktails, dinner, champers, and lots of fun & games. And we partied until the wee small hours – I had a ball! 😀

I’ve just finished packing for our trip to Disneyland Paris this weekend….. I cannot wait. For now, here’s some Monday Motivation:

Three New Things

Three New Things

Actually, There’s probably been much more than three new things recently, but I thought I’d share my top three with you.

1. Running Skirts

I ordered and took delivery of two tartan running skirts recently. I’m really excited to try them out! One is white, grey and pink, the other is turquoise and pink. I really hope that they are as comfortable as they look! 😉

2. Haggis Nachos

Wow. Simply wow. While in Campbeltown on Saturday, we stopped off for lunch at . I had a portion of haggis nachos: a massive plate of nachos, smothered in peppercorn sauce, topped with rich haggis and topped off with melting, bubbling local cheese. I cannot possibly tell you how amazing these are! I’m only sorry that I was too busy enjoying them to take a photo. We’ll definitely be making these at home soon.

3. Na Seudan Ur

There’s a super talented group of local girls who have been singing and playing together for some time. They play Gaelic and Scottish traditional music, with a hint of folk and blues mixed in, and they are fantastic! I shared a clip of them playing before back in June, on my blog post about the Viking Festival.
Well, the group is called which translates as ‘The New Jewels’ and it was their CD launch that we went to on Saturday night. They are simply brilliant! So much so, that they made it onto the evening news on BBC Alba.
@TheWelshWookie and I pre-purchased CDs as part of their Kickstarter crowdfunding to enable them to publish and launch their CD, and it really is beautiful. They’re a really talented group of girls.

You should check them out: here they are on BBC Alba, they’re on at around 17:35 minutes in:

It’s a public holiday here, and it’s lovely to be off on a Monday for a change!

I’ve had a house full of guests this weekend, and it’s been great fun. We’ve went to the beach, to soft play, to a live CD launch, played football, eaten lots and had some vino too. We even toasted marshmallows on an open fire, in the pitch dark!

Yesterday was the Loch Ness Marathon. And I did feel sad that I wasn’t taking part, but that’s life, isn’t it? There’s always next year 🙂

Here’s my self-motivation for this week; I hope it helps you too 😉

Hello! How has your weekend been? I spent mine with friends and family, enjoying the build up to my BFF’s wedding in a few weeks. I’m so excited!

I’m still struggling to find the time to write more than quick blog posts: I’m sure I’ll get there.

Did anyone else miss Series One of The Blacklist, only to find out that it’s amazing? I’m trying to squeeze in some episodes when I can before Series Two kicks off 😀

Here’s something that has resonated with me over the past few days:
