World Gin Day: Earned

World Gin Day: Earned

Happy World Gin Day!

I hope you are celebrating along with me?

Well, I reckon I’ve earned a gin tonight. I’ve had another fantastic week of training, and I’m now a the half way point of my 10K training plan for the Carradale Canter. Here’s my training for the week:

As you can see, I’ve stepped up my cross training this week, while maintaining my running in between. Sadly, last Monday was our last Clubbercise class until after the summer holiday. So, Monday will now mean that I’ll be focussing again on my running form at the start of the week.

Thursday I doubled up on the cross training, with my Pound class, and some yoga. Boy, oh, boy – that was tough! I set out to do the NTC Advanced Yoga programme, which is 45 minutes long. Somehow, I had forgotten that I’m stiff and inflexible: most of my moves were ‘aspirational’ at best 😉 But I gave it a go, for the first 20 minutes and then called it quits. I’ll try again this week though, as I’m really keen to reap the benefits of stretching and elongating. Honest!

Today, I’ve done a ‘double bubble’: we had our regular SUPercise session this morning. I think that my basic strokes are improving: I finally mastered the rudder, and could feel that I was moving faster in the water. I managed this by focussing more on my core, and using my legs to really stretch into the stroke- in other words, I spent virtually the whole lesson working on my squats, which I’m hoping will do my running the world of good!

After a quick cuppa, we headed out for a 5.5 mile walk/run and we ended up doing 6.4 miles. Score!

Tomorrow calls for a 3 mile walk, which I’ll get done in the morning, if all goes to plan.

And now, I’m going to pour myself a lovely glass of strawberry gin, which we infused ourselves. It’s a perfect occasion to break it out, I reckon 😉

A Woodland Walk

A Woodland Walk

After a stormy Saturday which resulted in the cancellation of our paddle boarding session – for fear that we’d be blown out to sea – we woke up this morning to glorious sunshine, and had to make the most of it with a wee walk on the woodland trails just above Tarbert Castle. We loved it!

The training plan called for a ‘3 mile brisk walk’ which became a 4.35 mile trail walk instead. It was windy, which blew away the cobwebs. but was largely warm, sunny with just a couple of spots of rain courtesy of some rain showers.

Here’s the elevation – you can see where we kept stopping to take photos!

And, here are some of the gorgeous views:

Hope you’re enjoying your weekend! 😀

Volunteers and Marshals

Volunteers and Marshals

This weekend will be the third race in a row where I have marshaled or helped, rather than running. I’m really looking forward to it.

First, was the Inveraray Jail Break which was great fun, and very wet. Next was manning a checkpoint and crewing for Julia at the Kintyre Way ultra.

Sunday brings the fantastic Mull of Kintyre half marathon and10K. We are registered for the half, however life got in the way, training was derailed and so we’re marshaling instead.

Volunteering to help has been a huge positive for me. My mojo has returned from its wee trek away, and I have a new found appreciation for race organisers and runners too.

There’s a new campaign launched to highlight the need for volunteers, supporters and marshals, and it’s being supported by Jo Pavey: If you haven’t already, check out joininuk for more information.

If you’re running the MOK on Sunday, look out for me: I’ll have jelly babies, and plenty of vocal support! 😉

Hi everyone, how has your week- and weekend- been? Mine has been awesome!

On Saturday I had lunch in Merchant Square, Glasgow with my mum and sisters. I don’t know what happened to me, but for once I didn’t even think about taking a picture of my food! 😮 We had arincini and bruschetta to start, then I had carbonara. It was delish!

We had a wander around the arts and crafts stalls, and picked up some brilliant cards.

Yesterday was the final day of the 5×50 Challenge and again, for the third year, I really enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be signing up in 2016. Will you?

Today is day one of my 10k training plan: it should be a one mile walk, but I replaced that with my Clubbercise class as cross training instead. As Jacqui, our instructor, was on holiday last week it was tough getting back into it, but as always it was a fantastic class. Love it!

Tomorrow night calls for a 3 mile run, and I’m looking forward to that too.

Here’s some motivation for this week:

And I say amen to that! 😀

Catching up with 5×50

Catching up with 5×50

Betcha didn’t expect to hear from me tonight? 😉

Just a quick post to say that, already, we’re on day 31 of the 5×50 challenge. Oooft, that’s come in quickly!

While I’ve been getting in my average of 5k or 30 minutes each day (I know because my Up band told me so), I hadn’t been logging it. My bad.

Tonight, I ran 2 miles then walked another 2 miles- go me! Not outside, but on the ‘mill. Watching Suits. I then logged my 5×50 and was surprised how the kilometres add up quickly:  Not too shabby! I’ve also got my training schedule tightened a little, after working out the basics of it last night.

All in all, it’s been a productive Tuesday 😀

Hello, everyone, and welcome back, winter! 😮

It’s freeeeeeezing out there! Brrr! The hailstones have been fairly battering down today. Mustn’t complain, though. We’ve had a great few weeks of mild, sunny weather.

Well, here we are – four days’ blogging in a row 🙂

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read my recent posts, and those who have offered positive comments and support following my wee admission yesterday. It’s good to know that I’m doing the right thing. Last night, I organised my ‘return to running’ plan for the next few weeks. I’ve bolted together a 5K, 10K and half marathon training plan to coincide with the Color Run, the inaugural Carradale 10K, culminating in the GNR. And, I’m actually a little excited to get back to it in a more structured and sensible way.

I’ve started tonight, with a return to Clubbercise after the Easter break, then missing last week’s class. It was GREAT! There were new routines, including one to ‘Uptown Funk’ and another to Scooter’s ‘Logical’:

It was brilliant! 😀

Here’s my soft, fluffy-pink approach to this week. It matches my mood………

Have a GREAT week, all!

Jantastic!

Jantastic!

If, like me, you’ve had a wonderful week of eating, drinking and lazing then you might be ready for a fitness shake up. So, wit this in mind, I’ve just signed up for Jantastic 2015!

I’m all set, and raring to go again on 5th January.

Well, it’s been another busy weekend for me: on Saturday morning, I ran the Great Scottish Run family mile with my sis-in-law Stacey, and my nephews Ryan and Aidan. It was really great to see lots of families enjoying the day.

Aidan, who has just turned four, ran the whole mile- he did an amazing job!

The boys also met Ross Murdoch, the commonwealth gold medallist swimmer, from Team Scotland: he was so lovely – he autographed the boy’s t-shirts, and as we crossed the start line, Aidan got a high-5 from him!

In the afternoon, we had my bestie Pauline’s Hen Do. We had cocktails, dinner, champers, and lots of fun & games. And we partied until the wee small hours – I had a ball! 😀

I’ve just finished packing for our trip to Disneyland Paris this weekend….. I cannot wait. For now, here’s some Monday Motivation:

It’s a public holiday here, and it’s lovely to be off on a Monday for a change!

I’ve had a house full of guests this weekend, and it’s been great fun. We’ve went to the beach, to soft play, to a live CD launch, played football, eaten lots and had some vino too. We even toasted marshmallows on an open fire, in the pitch dark!

Yesterday was the Loch Ness Marathon. And I did feel sad that I wasn’t taking part, but that’s life, isn’t it? There’s always next year 🙂

Here’s my self-motivation for this week; I hope it helps you too 😉

Hello! How has your weekend been? I spent mine with friends and family, enjoying the build up to my BFF’s wedding in a few weeks. I’m so excited!

I’m still struggling to find the time to write more than quick blog posts: I’m sure I’ll get there.

Did anyone else miss Series One of The Blacklist, only to find out that it’s amazing? I’m trying to squeeze in some episodes when I can before Series Two kicks off 😀

Here’s something that has resonated with me over the past few days:

I believe it – what do you think?
